The Vice President of India Shri M. Hamid Ansari interacted with the students of Department of Communication and Journalism, University of Pune here today. These students led by Shri Sanjay Vishnu Tambat, Assistant Professor of the Department, are on a Study tour to the national capital. Interacting with the students, the Vice President said that now the public is much better informed and gets very wide range of news. The responsibility of individual media person has increased and that is why the Media studies have taken off.
He opined that in earlier times, people used to judge quality of newspaper on the basis of news contents and its editor. Editor used to get good respect in society and used to maintain mutual confidentiality. With the advent of TV news channels, it is much changed. Now the Reporter of a channel, who reports on the spot, matters more. It is a good thing as well as a bad thing. Quantitatively we have expanded but not qualitatively. The basic system needs change. He wished all the students good success in their professional career ahead.
