The Indian Education Sector has undergone a paradigm shift and is still in the process of restructuring with an aim to create a whole Person in the Whole World. It is evolving in nature. Considering the demand of employees in the market, the education industry has revamped its curriculum and that would make the young adults competent enough not only to survive but live their lives with honour and pride.
With technology at the forefront, the education world has unveiled an altogether a new world with concepts like online tutorials, wi-fi enabled classrooms and e –notebooks, the conventional learning transactions have become obsolete. This traditional pedagogy has now effectively been replaced by Experiential learning where every step of learning is governed by the experience of the learners themselves.
It is an oft quoted saying, and one full of social wisdom: “Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime.” You will be the most vulnerable to the possible threats around you in the absence of adequate and required skill set. To run a machine, we need a multitude of applications that would automatically perform many functions and auto-upgrade its features. This is what experiential learning does to a human brain. If a machine fails to update itself, it becomes obsolete and so will human beings in the absence of experiential learning.
Moreover, the high demand of unconventional jobs like YouTubers, Bloggers, PR, financial Services and many more have revolutionized the entire curriculum framework. The youth of today is passionate for what they do and when they amalgamate passion and career, the outcome undoubtedly gets terrific and extremely satisfying.
The world is witnessing a great transition in the landscape of education. With manifold technological advances, machine learning, and artificial intelligence, it is assumed that unskilled jobs would be consumed by machines. Hence it becomes imperative for the educators to facilitate and streamline the learning transactions so that the educational institutes develop a workforce with an acquired skill set.
The onus to make pedagogical practices more holistic, inquiry-driven, discovery-oriented, learner-centred and enjoyable, lie on the shoulders of the education fraternity. Only then the students will become future -ready to collaborate towards the sustainable development of society that was once envisioned by the great leaders of the nation.
